This policy explains what YT Wallpaper (“the app”) and its sync and sharing services collect, why, and how you can remove it. You can use local wallpapers without an account. Signing in enables cloud sync and creating public share links; anyone can open a shared link without signing in.
What we collect
- Account details from Google or Apple: your name, email address (Apple may give a private relay address) and profile picture URL, plus the account identifier and sign-in tokens the provider issues. We request only the basic
openid,emailandprofilescopes and never access your Google Drive, YouTube account, contacts or any other data. - Your Macs: the computer name, hardware model (for example “Mac15,3”), a random identifier the app generates, when each Mac was last active, and which wallpaper it is currently showing.
- Your wallpapers and saved videos: YouTube video IDs, titles, channel names, durations and the start/end times of your trims.
- Wallpapers you choose to share: when you create a share link, we save a separate snapshot of the title, YouTube video ID, suggested trim times and source duration when available, together with a copy of the video's YouTube thumbnail.
We do not upload or store video files, screenshots, your desktop contents, or your browsing history. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
We use this information to sign you in, sync wallpapers and saved videos across your Macs, and publish the wallpaper links you choose to create. We use Railway and Cloudflare to host these services and store their data. We do not sell or rent your data or use it for advertising.
Public share links
Sharing is optional and happens only when you create a link. Anyone with that link can view the shared title, YouTube video ID, trim information and thumbnail. Your account details are not included on the public page. The thumbnail can also appear in link previews on services where the link is posted.
A share link is independent of your library. Deleting the original wallpaper does not remove its shared snapshot or revoke the link. To request removal of a share, contact us using the details below and include the link.
Google user data
YT Wallpaper's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and security
Account, sync and share metadata is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Railway. Shared YouTube thumbnails are stored in Cloudflare R2; video files are not uploaded. Connections use HTTPS. The access token the app keeps is stored in the macOS Keychain; the server stores only a SHA-256 hash of it. These tokens do not expire automatically and are revoked when you sign out or remove a Mac from your account.
Your choices and deletion
- Sign out in the app to revoke that Mac's access token.
- Remove another Mac from your account in the app's account panel.
- Deleting a wallpaper or saved video in the app deletes its synced library entry from the server. Existing public share snapshots remain available.
- To remove a public share or delete your account and its associated data, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with. Include the share link for a share removal request. We handle deletion requests within 30 days.
- You can also revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account (Security → Third-party connections) or your Apple ID settings.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here.
